Selecting A Bay Area Architectural Photographer

By Elaine Guthrie

Some people believe that as long as someone has a good camera the pictures they take will be good also. This is one of the many misconceptions that could lead to you losing a lot of money. The truth is that the gifts of photographers usually vary widely. A great photographer has a way with the lighting and has to have knowledge of design. Photographers also have specialties. Some that take good wedding photographs cannot take the best architectural photographs and you need to look for a qualified bay area architectural photographer for that work.

You are running a business and the best way to keep the profit margins high is by keeping your costs as low as possible. One way of ensuring this is by always selecting a photographer that does not ask for royalty for the photos he took. Some of them usually ask for royalty every time their picture is used and these usually add up to your costs greatly.

Other specialties usually come in handy. Some of this includes their skill on enhancing and retouching the photos they take. Most of the great photos taken digitally are normally retouched or enhanced in some way. This therefore is a very important skill that he must have since some of the photos that you will need shall need to be enhanced for them to look better.

In any service industry, experience is great. A photo taken by a newbie in the business and that taken by a person with years of experience will not look the same. The one taken by the experienced one will be looking much better than that taken by the newbie. This is because in his years of experience he has learnt many skills and he has learnt how to handle difficult situations with ease.

Most photographers usually sell stock photos. It is just a way for them to make a little more money. Sometimes the photos they sell are those they took for a client. Since you do not want your photos t be sold you should make sure that the one you choose does not sell stock photos. You can also ask around from previous clients for more information.

Apart from calling and getting more information from current and previous clients, asking the names of the companies in their client list can be very beneficial. They will assist you in knowing and gauging the quality of work. If they work for large and well-known companies it shows they have good quality photos. If they have small companies most of the time they are just starting out.

A photographer might have a busy schedule but that should not be an excuse for them not to respond to your emails and calls. It is understandable if he does not pick you call but he should respond as soon as he can.

You should also ask around to know his reputation. He should meet tight deadlines without giving an excuse and he should be easy to work with and not give you a hard time.
