A Step By Step Guide In Creating Mermaid Artwork

By Paul Lewis

Creating art has many advantages and is often considered therapeutic by most people. While other industries such as medicine, law, and science is important, what the human race really lives for is a sense of beauty and romance. It is this appreciation and desire for beauty that sets humans apart from other animals. As a result, they fabricate artworks to further help the spread of this art form.

At present times, a genre that has amassed a cult following amongst men and women across the globe is science fiction or fantasy art. This typically involves the imagining of various worlds or parallel dimensions where other creatures exist, apart from the humans and animals that people know of. This includes sea and land creatures like giants, elves, witches, goblins, and more. Stated below is how to draw Mermaid Artwork New Jersey.

To begin, you must first prepare your preferred materials, depending upon what kind of output you would like. For instance, some prefer creating artworks using a brush and an empty canvas, while others would rather sketch and finish the output on a program on their computer. This part is entirely up to you, but is also necessary to prepare yourself for the next step.

Once you are done gathering all the materials that you need, it is now time to visualize and create a concept. This includes brainstorming and digging deep into what inspires you to create and draw. This stage is highly important because this is when you develop your vision and come up with the character in terms of design, and what kind of personality you want to give it.

Once you get a general idea of what kind of mermaid you would like to portray, you may now begin the sketching process. This entails drawing your imagined character into different situations, various poses, multiple facial expressions, and more. This will give you more time to warm up and make some changes on the overall design. Furthermore, it also helps set the tone and helps create studies, which you will use later on.

Upon the completion of the initial sketches, you now have a list of options to choose from. Some artists prefer to amalgamate different features from each study. For example, they may get the outfit from one sketch, the hair and clothes from another, the pose and background in different studies. While some choose one study and go along with it. Whichever you prefer, this will serve as your basis for the final output.

Upon completion of the final draft, begin to trace it with your preferred medium. This will help create an outline that you then color in after you are through. Be extra careful during this stage though, because it will not be as easy to erase any mistakes and you might even need to start from the beginning once more.

Coloring is the next task on the list. Choose a color scheme that you think is most appropriate for the personality and situation of your character. If you are looking into a more serious or dark theme, then use neutral and dark colors to create a sense of mystery and intimidation. At this stage, you can experiment with different coloring techniques.

Furthermore, it is also important to apply the right shading and highlighting techniques. Applying the proper ones will further improve your work and help set the tone of your artwork. By considering all these factors, you will surely end up with a breathtaking piece of art.
