Stories Behind Black Bear Photographs For Sale

By Nelda Powers

Of all the species of bears in the world, the American black bear has been found to be the most abundant. They once reigned all over the unexplored forested ranges of north America. Naturally, these animals prefer hanging out in areas that are well away from human activities along with an abundance of their favorite food materials. A majority of the black bear photographs for sale are captured in the wilderness without alerting animals to the presence of a photographer.

You may come across one roaming open country if there is a deficiency of their favorite food in the forested areas they prefer. The evident change in their way of life is mostly attributable to the influence brought by humans encroaching into their native territories. The only instances in which they have been known to openly confront people is when they feel threatened by their presence.

Desist from feeding bears on your premises to show them to visitors or to take pictures as they forage in your backyard. If you have kids and you live in bear country, educate them on the essence of respecting wild animals and never allow them to leave home unaccompanied. Occasionally, you may come face to face with these animals in the wild. In such a case, try retreating slowly without arousing their curiosity.

Run away only if your safe haven is in close proximity as these creatures can easily outrun the average person. If you reside in areas with a heavy presence of wildlife, consider installing an electric fence to keep out their nuisance. Always be cautious about leaving your garbage lying about as it may attract opportunistic scavengers.

When winter is approaching, bears will forage for up to twenty hours on a daily basis to add up weight and stock on energy for their long sleep. During this time, the females will give birth to about three blind and helpless cubs. The young ones are solely dependent on suckling their mother and will remain with her for approximately two years. A female with cubs can be very dangerous as she is very protective of her offspring.

Males are largely solitary and do not participate in caring for the young. In fact, they may feed on young cubs if their mother is not around to offer protection. Physically, males are bigger in both height and weight, with one adult in the wild growing to a record 409 kilograms.

Adult bears have little in the form of threats from other natural predators. There may be an occasional fight with grizzlies or packs of hungry wolves but they are largely undisturbed. Cubs may fall prey to coyotes and bobcats but the presence of a mother is enough to dissuade these predators. Flooding in the dens may also contribute to premature deaths of new born cubs.

You may be lucky to obtain black bear photographs for sale showing these graceful creatures in their winter dens. This period is marked with physical inactivity to avoid unnecessary wastage of energy. It is quite distinct from hibernation in that the body temperature remains normal.
