A Code Geass Anime Review Article

By Krystal Branch

People who are interested in knowing more about Code Geass, can search on the net for 'code geass anime review'. This search will bring up pages of other people's perspective of the popular TV series, and also pages of information about the program. It is a series made in Japan, by Sunrise, and it features a boy called Lelouch Lamperouge and his closest relatives (sister and father).

The TV series depicts Lelouch in Japan, on a quest to discover the murderer of his mother, and to bring peace to the country. His quests are difficult, however, because he has to ensure the care of his disabled and blind sister, Nunally. Support for Lelouch is provided from a friend, Suzaku Kururugi, as well as from C. C, a girl who he meets when he is in much need of help.

C. C has stunning, green hair and a tattoo on her forehead, and she came to Lelouch's rescue as he was about to be executed by the Britannian Royal Guard. C. C offered Lelouch a 'contract', whereby if he fulfills her one wish, he shall have the King's power, or Geass. When Lelouch uses this power, he is able to make anyone do anything he commands. For example, to escape his execution by the guards, he ordered them to die. The guards then shot themselves with their own guns.

Lelouch's new power helps him with his greatest desire, to create a place in which his younger sister can live in peace. He struggles through many battles to try and discover who is responsible for his mother's death, and to overcome the Britannian Empire. Lelouch has quite a difficult life because he has to act just like any other schoolboy at times, while at heart he is this hero with important missions.

'Lelouch of the Rebellion' was the first of the series to be shown. It was first premiered in October of 2006 on MBS, or Mainachi Broadcasting System television network. After the premier, it was available to all in Japan, on Animax, in November of the same year. The reviews were positive, and the show was a hit, which is why a sequel followed very soon.

The sequel was referred to as 'Lelouch of the Rebellion R2', and was made known to the public by a write-up in Newtype. This was in March 2007. This series had premiers as well, where the first episode was shown to the Japanese voice artists who played the characters, as well as to a couple thousand other people. These three premiers where held in Osaka and Tokyo.

Americans were able to see both series, starting with the first, in 2008. They were then also aired in the Philippines and Australia. Bandai Entertainment on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim programming block, was the broadcaster in America. The series could be watched in these countries in English.

Furthermore, related products can be purchased, such as two soundtracks for the program and a couple of light novels. Fans in Japan can buy Japanese video games as well. Perhaps consider leaving a review on code geass anime online if you enjoyed the series.
