Tyvek Suits Protect The Wearer Sometimes From Themselves

By Krystal Branch

When thinking about which garment can be worn by workers, no matter what industry, to protect them from contamination, no garment compares to Tyvek Suits. There are other protective garments being manufactured, however, this single layer of polyethylene, from Dupont, is the standard bearer and to which all others aspire. They have caught the market and have paved the way with their unique craftsmanship.

Food manufacturing plants will use these suits to protect the product from the wearer as does electronic and pharmaceutical clean room industries. The very nature of the garments work in both directions as the fabric works to prevent passage of substances from inside or out to pass through them. This makes them very flexible as a working uniform and, also, as a way of identifying those working in a specific area or discipline.

Many of these suits come in various colors. They have different appearances as some of them will have hoods and booties attached. Most of them will have elastic wrist bands and others will be belted or buttoned. If the hood is not attached, the neck line will be collared. When hoods and booties are attached, this is the best protective suit that can be had, especially if you wear goggles as the last touch.

The proper size is important as the movement of the employees body must not be limited. Most of these suits have a seamless front panel with full zipper. Some have flaps over the zippers and all of them have stretchy panels for the back. Many of the more expensive suits will have an additional belt in the back to tighten the garment and prevent loose material from flapping.

Suits like these are a common sight in chemical plants. The spills that are almost inevitable will not be able to get through the material. Unless the wearer is dipped into the substance they are protected by this strong material. It is strong enough to crawl around in some of the dirtiest areas and still not rip. This activity is very common for janitorial personnel working in confined spaces to clean or service equipment located there.

Many cleaning operations and operators will wear these suits. Crime scene clean up and foreclosure cleaning are a few of these activities. Many window cleaners will use these as they are protected from getting wet. With the extra layer of clothing they stay warm at some of the heights at which they work.

Since these suits can be used in many industries, it is natural for many others to explore the potentials for theirs. Processes can speed up and cleaning opportunities can be seized when the dangers associated with chemicals and other liquids are minimized. Carefully using a properly fastened garment in a professional way can assist in more production, cleaner areas and more employees going home safe and sound.

Using these Tyvek Suits, in the way they are supposed to be used, will help employees stay out of trouble. People can handle some of the tasks they are required to handle and, even if they get sprayed or spilled by something, they can be protected. These can be cleaned or, if there is nothing dangerous about what is on them, can be used again the next day.
