Elements In The Work Of Famous Landscape Painters

By Anita Ortega

Famous artists all tend to work with space in the way that suits them best. They each have a technique that makes their work easy to identify. Some rely heavily on their own interpretations when they are portraying distance and end up with a bit of abstraction in their work. Kiefer, Monet and Turner painted beautiful, romantic images that celebrated life and also commented on the mistakes that people have made.

Artists in this category aim to capture the essence of what makes a scene outstanding. They look at the beauty of creation and try in their own way, to portray it on canvas. People across the world enjoy the work of famous landscape painters. In this way, we can continue to enjoy scenery after we have gone indoors. In fact, many great pieces that we admire in museums today were based on scenery that have changed significantly over time.

A painter may work with color a lot in this type of composition. Europeans tended to place a lot more emphasis on using color of all shades than their counterparts in Asian. Many famous eastern paintings rely on the differences in shade for a particular color to bring across depth. In any of these paintings, viewers can see a lot to capture their interest and lead them to think about the effect that tones have on them.

Color also has an influence on how we perceive the nature of the elements in a painting. People are automatically drawn to any object that is painted in a bright color. Artists can give prominence to one object and influence how viewers think of trees or buildings in a composition.

Just the presence of man made objects can indicate how old a painting really is. As mankind has branched out more into nature with skyscrapers, bridges and railway lines, glimpses of these can be seen in paintings. The work of the old masters had less of these objects than we can see in contemporary art.

Landscape painters are occasionally thought of as people who merely create pictures that are pleasing diversion. However, they can easily make political statements and communicate strong messages in their work. Symbols may be assembled in ways that reflect the follies of a nation or the uselessness of some particular type of behavior. The spiritual values which are important to a nation may be celebrated by the inclusion of mountains or other signs.

Some of the great Chinese and Japanese painters brought mountains close to the viewer and painted them in great detail, unlike others who would simply fade these land masses in order to give the viewer perspective. Wyeth is also known for paying great attention to detail and this is one of the elements that makes his work remarkable.

Beautiful landscape paintings give you a lot to think about. Some of these artists, like Pippin, did not focus solely on landscapes. However, they produced beautiful work that will be appreciated by individuals who like paintings that belong to this genre. Exploring collections in museums and galleries allows you to enjoy your favorites.
